  • PlayArts is seeking a School Age Program Coordinator to plan, coordinate, and oversee our afterschool, day camp and summer camp programs for children in grades K-5. This position is responsible for maintaining budget and records pertaining to the program expenditures, implementing policies and procedures, and organizing the calendar, activities and agenda for the program.

    This role is considered a leadership position requiring attendance in various leadership meetings and will have a required partial remote working agreement, and some required hours on site at our main location and in our partnering schools.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Salary Range: $58,000-61,000 per year

    Job Duties include, but are not limited to:

    • The job responsibilities of the Program Coordinator vary to some degree depending on program and organizational needs. However, there are some general administrative and program management tasks that lay at the core. These include:

    • Assist Site Directors in maintaining state compliance and preparing for annual OCDEL licensing inspection

    • Assist with planning, scheduling and coordination of the school-age programs and their activities

    • Oversee school site licensure requirements with site directors

    • Manage invoices in Quickbooks

    • Assist Director of Operations in completing site director evaluations

    • Coordinate school day camp and summer camp schedule, themes, venues and communication

    • Coordinate substitutes and “floaters”

    • Monitor and implement program policies, practices and overall program quality compliance with the Director of Operations

    • Schedule Initial screenings and hirings of teaching staff and include Director of Operations in final interview rounds

    • Coordinate and facilitate professional development throughout the school year, with input from SD’s and Director of Operations

    • Develop onboarding protocol for new teachers

    • Develop an organized system for maintaining staff files

    • Work to keep programs on schedule, within stated budgets and functioning smoothly

    • Support program growth and development as necessary

    • Coordinate program communications to staff, families and community partners

    • Manage staff work assignments, workloads and work schedules

    • Manage site directors to review timesheets and PTO in a timely way

    • Administer or oversee operations for programs as well as community outreach

    • Oversee the program budget, including tracking billing, payments and other financial transactions

    • Coordinate interactions/relationships between staff, clients, administrators and all other program stakeholders

    • Schedule and organize program-related meetings and events

    • Facilitate positive relations between the program team, the public, other departments within the organization, and all other involved parties

    • Manage program marketing and communications (media relations, social media)

    • Manage school-age-related website presence and registration systems

  • We are seeking a warm, energetic and innovative early childhood educator to join our Club Creative Aftercare program (2:30-6:30pm; ages 2-5) at PlayArts Creative Preschool (Our main location).

    Salary/Hourly Range: $17.00- $19.00 per hour

    Job Type: Part-time, 20 hrs/week

    Job Duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate classroom lessons & activities

    • Classroom management of preschool children in the classroom and playspace

    • Ensure a safe environment for all children

    • Keep records of students’ growth & development (physical, cognitive, social/emotional)

    • Collaborate with and provide guidance to Club Creative Aftercare Assistant Teachers

  • PlayArts is seeking qualified Philadelphia educators and education students to join our substitute teacher list.

    Salary Range: $20 - $25 / hour

    Schedule: Flexible and/or last-minute subbing based on staffing needs and individual availability

    PlayArts Creative Preschool (ages 2.5-5yrs):

    The Substitute Teacher (Group Supervisor & Assistant Group Supervisor) role is a part-time and occasional year-round position.

    PlayLoud AfterSchool (K-5th grade):

    Candidates must be patient, energetic, flexible, and have experience working with elementary school-age children. Teachers must demonstrate an eagerness and ability to take on leadership roles. Teachers are required to help set up rooms, supervise and engage in outdoor play with the children, and help facilitate after school arts activities in the area of their expertise.

    Job Duties:

    • Classroom management skills - ensuring a safe environment for children

    • Communicating and collaborating with other PlayArts teachers and director/supervisor 

    • Following procedures and adhere to lesson goals 

    • Overseeing students outside of the classroom as well as hallways, bathrooms etc.

    • Maintaining a clean and orderly classroom and playspace 

    • Overseeing the normal classroom rhythms and activities

    • Compiling a report for the teacher for when they return (optional)

    • Co-Lead preschool in the classroom, PlaySpace, and off-site locations 

    • Providing quality care and supervision for the children

    • Responsible for the growth & development of preschool and school age children (physical, cognitive, social/emotional)

    • Maintaining accurate adult:child ratios

    • Regularly check and communicate through team-wide platforms (ie. slack, email, etc.) 

    • Assisting with cleaning, sanitizing and closing duties in the classroom/facility

    Role Requirements:

    • AAS in Early Childhood Education preferred

    • BA in Early Childhood Education, Education, or like field preferred, but not required with appropriate experience

    • Will have to obtain or provide State clearances, FBI fingerprints, and background checks *prior to start date

    • Will have to obtain or provide Mandated reporter training and TWO letters of references

    • All costs for clearances and trainings will be reimbursed after 90 days of employment

    • Arts or Education degrees preferred. Without an education-related degree, the following credits and experience is required:

    (1)  A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate and 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field.

        (2)  A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate, including 600 or more hours of secondary training described in §  3270.31(c) (relating to age and training).

        (3)  A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate, 15 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 1 year of experience with children.

        (4)  A high school diploma or a general education development certificate and completion of a post-secondary training curriculum described in §  3270.31(c).

        (5)  A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate and 2 years experience with children (babysitting, camp counseling) or teaching experience is required.
