Amira (she/her) is a multimedia artist and movement specialist from southern New Jersey. With over ten years of experience in the performing arts and five years of experience teaching children, Amira advocates for the arts as the great equalizer. Throughout her journey to a BA in Criminology at Drexel University, including two years as a crisis counselor at Drexel University’s Dornsife Center, Amira recognized art as a powerful bridge for building community.

Her art is informed by the social and cultural realities of our present, as well as the abundant possibilities of our future. When looking toward the future, she believes there is no greater investment to be made than in our children. Amira’s teaching philosophy is built upon a foundation of creativity, centered on both spiritual and mental health. She firmly believes that creativity is cultivated through empathy, curiosity, and imagination.

With a passion to instill these values in the children of the PlayArts community, Amira eagerly looks forward to facilitating and exploring movement that broadens the perspectives of all involved
