ISABEL BROWN

Isabel (any pronouns) is a multimedia artist based in West Philadelphia. Their work bridges the divide between “art” and “craft” and makes heavy use of recycled materials. As a child, Isabel spent hours creating new worlds using the materials around them. Today, imaginative play is core to Isabel’s approach to art making.

Isabel earned a BA in Environmental Studies from Oberlin College. Her studies focused on art making as a method of environmental activism and education. From planning art lessons teaching the importance of environmental stewardship to elementary school students, to leading middle school girls through dance classes to promote leadership skills and empowerment, Isabel is passionate about the impact that creative expression has on childhood development.

Outside of work, Isabel spends their time in their home studio painting, weaving, collaging, sewing, or collecting discarded items from around her neighborhood.
